"Smokin"

Two more imagwes from the 70's, back when smoking was still cool and safe. The top image is a good friend of mine who went on to be a teacher and I think quit smoking. The second is Dent Myers who I have photographed for over 30 years. The last time was October 2007 at his store "Wildmans Civil War Surplus" in Kennesaw, GA. He is partly responsible for the law that makes it mandatory that you own a handgun in Kennesaw.

"More from the 70's"

Both of these images were taken at a Gold Rish Festival in Dahlonega, GA in the late 1970's. I attended the festival regularly for a few years. The Banjo Man was a big favorite of mine because of his expression and the fact that on the print you can see he has only 1 dollar in his hat. That was a pretty good donation in the late 70's.
The top image is one of my all time favorites, the title is Three Men and No Baby. In the print you can see the middle gut is rolling his own with Prince Albert in the can. This is a timeless image and they are totally self involved.

"Still stuck in the 70's"

Just a couple more old images from the 1970's. these were also scanned from film and the worked in Photoshop. I still shoot film and scan, but only black & white. There is just a different look to the film.
I will continue with more images from the 70's tomorrow.

"Two oldies, but goodies"

These shots were taken in 1979 while I was studying photography at the Art Institute of Atlanta. The first one is a study of Dent Myers who owns Wildman's Civil War Surplus in Kennesaw, GA. Dent is one of the main reasons for the law passed that everyone in Kennesaw must own a gun for protection. He has also been a technical advisor on many Civil War movies.
The second image is of a dumpster diver back when it was a new occupation. As you can see he is not the happiest man in the world. I don't think he was to happy to have his photo taken while diving. This has been another of my favorite images over the years.
Thanks for visiting, I will continue with oldr images for the time being.

"Back to the 70's"

I am going back to some photographs I took back in the 1970's. They were all taken with Kodak Plus-X black and white film and then scanned. Some of these negatives are 40 years old and are in great condition.
The one on top "Piedmont School" was the first shot I made that I thought was a really good photo. It was taken while working in Monticello, GA in 1976. I had an afternoon off and found this old abandoned school and it was unlocked so in I went.
I am going to continue with old stuff for the rest of the week. Feeling kinda nostalgic for some reason.

"Looking for an Old Friend"

I would love to get in touch with my friend shown in the photos. Her name was Turtle Gunn and was my model, makeup artist and stylist for many years during the late 70's. If anyone knows her or can put her in touch with me, I would really appreciate it.
She got married and moved to Bowling Green, KY in the early 80's and I lost touch with her. She was from Marietta, GA and had a sister named Ronnie whose wedding I photographed. If anyone knows her please contact me.
