Mark working with students on Mirror Lake at Whiteside Mountain Cove. October 13, 2009.I lost a close, wonderful friend and fellow photographer Friday night. Mark Hutchison was a great photographer and writer whom I met in 2008 when I joined Gallery 4463 in Acworth, GA. He was one of the original members of the gallery. We had an instant respect and friendship for each other. As time went on we became closer and began working and brainstorming together often.
In September of 2009 Mark asked me to assist on his Fall Highlands Photography Workshop, which I gladly accepted for the experience. We had rain for 2 out of 3 days, but Mark still managed to provide a great experience for the participants. He and I realized we made a pretty good team.
We began working on a partnership for the 2010 workshops in Highlands, NC and my Jekyll Island workshops. We met last Wednesday and decided on 3 Highlands, 2 Jekylls and 1 North Georgia workshops. We had just begun work on advertising.
Friday night Mark passed away suddenly. I lost a close friend and mentor. Mark influenced many photographers in our area. He judged many competitions for Paulding Photography Club, Cobb Photographic Society and many more. He will be missed by many including myself. He was a great friend and I will miss him dearly.
